HOME PRICING
HOW MUCH DO YOUR HOMES
COST?
This is one of the most frequent question we
get asked, along with related questions like "what's the cost per square
foot?". The answer to these questions varies greatly by the plan, the
client and the location of the project.
So why does a Lexus 4 door sedan cost
more than the same sized Kia 4 door sedan?
When you think about this
question for a moment, the answers start to become apparent. These cars
may be the same size, but differ greatly in design, quality, reliability and
features. The same is true of homes and builders ... each builder uses
different materials, different home designs and different levels of quality,
all resulting in different costs. A builder who uses lower cost
materials and hires inexperienced workers will typically build a lower quality,
lower priced
home - but it will be very different from the homes that we build.
Our homes are built as though we were
going to live in them ourselves ... so we don't take shortcuts or cut corners.
Our experienced carpenters, subcontractors and suppliers take pride in their
work and strive to get the details right, and it shows! So while we
won't compromise the quality of the home, we do strive to find the right
balance of materials and costs to make certain that our homes provide a good
value for the price - both now and 10 years from now.
BUDGET PROCESS
At Artisan Home Builders we
believe that your budget is critical to the design of your home. In
fact, we start the design process of your home at the same time we work with
you to establish a budget. After our initial planning session, we create
a detailed estimate of your project based on the planned size and features of
your home. How do we do this? By examining the costs of other
projects that we have completed that have similar features and finishes to
what you're planning. Then we review this initial
budget estimate with you to make sure we understand the details of what you
want in your home, and to ensure that it fits your budget.
Once you've approved the budget, we then
focus the design to stay within that budget - working with you to balance cost
options with the features you want. After the design is approved by you,
then we take the plans out for bid and update the estimate to come up with a
final cost of the home. This detailed estimate then becomes part of the
contract and is used for each of the construction draws taken during the
building phase. The result?
Our homes are built on time and on
budget - and we'll guarantee our price!
So unlike many builders that regularly
go 20% over budget (or higher!) during construction, we don't because we take
the time up front to truly understand the features and budget requirements you
have. And unlike so many home designs that look great on
paper but end up being way over the planned budget, our designs are created to
actually be built within a realistic budget. There's no rocket science here, it just takes the
right combination of building and design experience used together throughout
the process.
